Television: Industry contexts - the BBC

 1) What is the BBC's mission statement?

to act in the public interest, serving all audiences through the provision of impartial, high-quality and distinctive output and services which ​inform, educate​and ​entertain​.

2) How is the BBC funded?
 

Its work is funded principally by an annual television licence fee which is charged to all British households, companies, and organisations using any type of equipment to receive or record live television broadcasts or watch using iPlayer.
 
3) What must the BBC do to meet its public service broadcasting responsibilities? (Look at the five bullet points above)

 provide impartial public service broadcasting in the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man.

BBC is regulated by Ofcom which issues an Operating Framework and an Operating Licence for our UK public services.

5) How do Doctor Who and His Dark Materials help the BBC to meet the BBC's remit to inform, educate and entertain

Their  mission is  to inform ,  Educate and entertain. Public service media are committed to values including independence, excellence
